White blackberry passport goes up for pre-order

BlackBerry quietly put a white-color Passport up for pre-order in Canada. The eye-grabbing new color option will begin shipping to customers early next month, on December 7.

The newcomer is priced at CAD $699 (about $622 USD). The price tag currently carries a CAD $100 premium over the black version of BlackBerry’s flagship smartphone. The black model carries a Black Friday promo pricing through November 30.
Furthermore, a crafty web surfer who poked around BlackBerry’s official online store revealed a rather stunning looking red/black Passport coming our way. The third color option will reportedly be available in limited quantities on Black Friday.
You can find out all about the BlackBerry Passport in our detailed review.

Nexus 6 found has a RGB LED sensor, and you can enable it via Light Flow

Moore, who has yet to obtain a Nexus 6, was able to cobble together a series of steps, via the Android SDK, to enable the trick:

ok it actually seems to work quite well after a bit of experimenting in the adb shell.

You’ll need root but with that try the following:

Choose root mode
run every command as root and
direct mode
Make sure “su”/superuser has access granted for all requests

Then go into lightflow, notification settings and you should have a
“mixer” option. Enable that and you should then see options to set the
red, green and blue leds and also an option to set their brightness.

The brightness is has a 255 max value (0 being off) – (255 max brightness) and it should work.

The led won’t flash but you can mix them together to get different colors. Technically you don’t need to use the mixer but there’s more control with it from what I remember.

One thing to be aware of, other than the necessity of Root status, is that several XDA users have mentioned the LED doesn’t flash, which one might assume means pulsate. Why Motorola has actually included this feature but disabled it might sound strange indeed, although it’s important to remember that the original Moto X had a similar light that had the sole purpose of lighting up when the battery was too low to use active display — it’s very possible the purpose here is similar.

Either way, this could potentially be good news for those that are upset that the Nexus 6 doesn’t have a notification light.

Android 4.1.1 for MK809III with AP6210

Android 4.1.1 for MK809III with AP6210

Is there any Android 4.1.1 ROM for this TV Dongle? If not, would it be possible to cook one?

I would like to have the old Bluetooth stack working again so I can use wiimote.

I guess I could do it by myself but I'm not that familiar with the End2End Android build process. For a start, I don't know what kernel configuration should I use for this device.

Can someone give me a hint?

Excerpt:
Setup and impressions

The Minix X8-H comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4 and a few apps, including XBMC media center ver. 13.2 (codename “Gotham”).
At first use, you boot in like any android phone or tablet, and go through the google sign-in/sign-on process, with one main difference – you are required to set-up the minix-specific configuration. It mostly pertains to Audio, Video and network settings – as the device supports wired LAN connections where tablets and smartphones do not.

People might think this is unique to the iFive Air. It’s not. In a forum post pimping the P7, Pipo also brags about a ten-second boot time [Google Translate]. Since both have it, it’s clear this is part of the optimizations Rockchip has worked on and distributed to its RK3288 platform partners. Expect all partner tablets to have it.

Bitcoin is often hailed as the solution to the world’s remittance problems

Bitcoin is often hailed as the solution to the world’s remittance problems. It’s accessible to the unbanked, it’s nearly instant, and the fees are minimal compared to banks and other money transfer services.

But perhaps the biggest obstacle to bitcoin remittances gaining serious traction is bitcoin itself. The complex, unfamiliar nature of the cryptocurrency keeps would-be users at bay.

Bitcoin is slowly gaining public awareness, but Hong Kong-based Bitspark wants to skip the hassle and let users send remittances with zero required knowledge of bitcoin. The startup has just announced the first end-to-end cash remittances using bitcoin between Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Most bitcoin remittance services today work like this: a person takes the money they’ve earned and buys bitcoin. They then send the money from their bitcoin wallet to the recipient’s bitcoin wallet – usually a friend or family member back in their home country. Then the recipient swaps the bitcoin out for cash in the local currency.

But end-to-end cash remittance like what Bitspark has achieved is much simpler. Similar to Western Union, a customer just hands the cash over, and the recipient picks it up at the destination. Bitcoin, although it serves as the primary medium for this transaction, never enters the equation for the customer. There’s no need for a bitcoin wallet, and the cost is less than one percent commission.

A smartphone app and automated system are being developed to further streamline the process, but most people who require the service – Philippine maids working abroad in Hong Kong, in this case – want to send physical cash. For its debut, Bitspark set up a booth at the World Wide House building in Central, Hong Kong on Sunday, a location that’s popular with maids on their one day off each week.
