Elephone announces special flash sale, phones going from $12.12

Elephone (everyone’s favourite!) have announced that they will be having flash sales on the 12th, 16th, 17th and 18th of December, with devices such as the Elephone P8000, P6000 Pro, M2, S2 and S2 Plus going on sale for as low as $12.12 (Because 12th December, geddit?).

Elephone have yet to fully announce the details of this flash sale, so we still don’t know if there what other devices will be offered, if any at all. We’d also don’t know if smartphones are going to be the only devices going on sale, since Elephone also has a large number of other gadgets like e-cigars, action cameras and smartwatches.

The first ever photograph of light as both a particle and wave

Light behaves both as a particle and as a wave. Since the days of Einstein, scientists have been trying to directly observe both of these aspects of light at the same time. Now, scientists at EPFL have succeeded in capturing the first-ever snapshot of this dual behavior.

It’s very early in the morning as I type this and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

Whenever I’ve read about the dual-slit experiment — which has been many,many times — I’ve always wondered if the photons have preferential spots they head towards. So that, in effect, if you could slow it all down to seeing one photon at a time, you would see each photon “pick its spot” just as people do on a bus, ferry, train, plane when free first-come, first-served seating is available. Some people want the window, some the front, some the back, some the aisle.

But apparently photons don’t do that. But I still wonder if science is certain about that. Stochastic processes fascinate me. I think they all have loopholes yet to be discovered. And that discovery will be the biggest in the history of mankind because it will lead to unprecedented breakthroughs that, at base, seem maddeningly simple. So simple, they were never even considered.

Don’t even get me started on superconductivity and my hypothesis about “happy electrons” …

Elephone M3 looks very attractive for just $99

Hot on the heels of the Elephone M1 and M2 all metal business phones comes this bit of Elephone M3 news.

Just like the 2 previous releases Elephone have once again chosen an all metal construction for the body of the M3, looking at the renders its a nice looking handset with 2.5d glass (hopefully the phone will look this good when it is ready to ship out).

What will set this phone apart is the addition of previously flagship only features such as the inclusion of a USB type C charging port and the fact that it will ship with Android os6 Marshmallow.

Not much more is known about the phone except that it will feature a Mediatek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor and will be available in silver and gold and the price will be just $99 (£66)

Hopefully the screen and cameras on the Elephone M3 will be of decent quality, making this an attractive proposition for a second handset.
