iOS 13: How to Repeat or Shuffle Songs in Music App on iPhone

It feels like moving the Repeat and Shuffle buttons in the Music app is Jony Ive’s personal sadistic pass time. Ever since Apple redesigned the Music app with the modern iOS design in iOS 10, it can’t seem to decide where to put these darn Shuffle and Repeat buttons. Now, 3 years later, Apple has moved them yet again. And just to keep things interesting, made them tiny as well. Here’s how to find the Repeat and Shuffle buttons in iOS 13 Music app. Also Read:h33t proxy
Repeat and Shuffle Songs in iOS 13’s Music App on iPhone

There’s a good reason why Apple moved these buttons. Apple has redesigned the whole Now Playing screen in iOS 13. iOS 10 introduced the scrolling panel. This is where all options and the Up Next queue were hidden below the scroll (and there was no indication to the user that this was, in fact, a scrollable screen).

Thankfully, the scrollable screen is gone. That’s one less frustration to deal with (or one less thing to explain your parents and less tech-savvy friends).

Apple now has three buttons at the bottom. The left and right buttons essentially behave as tabs. The left button brings up the new synced lyrics view. While the right button is for the Up Next.

Yes, Up Next now has a dedicated section. It basically replaces the cover art of the song when the button is pressed.

Now, Up Next queue takes up the majority of the screen (and that’s fair). So where does Apple put the Repeat and Shuffle buttons? It’s the two tiny gliphs in grey next to the text that says Up Next. I’ve highlighted it in the screenshot below so you don’t need to squint.

Tap on the Shuffle button and the queue will shuffle instantly. You can tap on the Repeatbutton to repeat the album and then tap again just to repeat the song. When you do have Shuffle or Repeat enabled and you go back to the cover view, the Up Next button will update with a small Repeat icon in the top-right (which, I admit, is a nice touch).

Then again, Apple could have just put these two buttons next to the AirPlay button at the bottom of the screen (but at least we now have one more thing to put in our iOS 14 wishlist).

So that is where you’ll find the Repeat and Shuffle buttons in iOS 13 Music app. Between a rock and a hard place.

iOS 13 Will Warn Users When Deleting Apps with Active Subscription

With iOS 13 beta 2, Apple has made one little change that will help people who subscribe to a lot of apps and services. If you delete an app with an active subscription from the iOS 13 beta 2 home screen, a prompt will show up informing you about the subscription.

You can either select the “Keep” action in the prompt and not delete the app or tap on “Manage subscription” to go ahead and cancel the subscription. The prompt will also inform you the next date on which the subscription will be renewed.

@viticci

Never seen this alert before – Apple now tells you if an app you're deleting has a subscription still active. Good move.

Remember that you can use apps with an active subscription on other iOS devices. If you have a lot of apps with an active subscription, this feature in iOS 13 is going to be a godsend for you. Google already does something similar in Android so it is nice to see Apple include this feature in iOS as well. It is unclear if this feature will also make its way to macOS Catalina or not. The Beta 2 release of the OS does not have any similar feature.

Apple had made it easier to manage app subscriptions with the iOS 12.1.4 updateearlier this year where it added the Manage Subscriptions option in the App Store for users to easily manage their active subscriptions.

Do you think there’s something else that Apple could do to further make it easier to manage app subscriptions in iOS? If so, what? Drop a comment and let us know!

How to Enable Dark Mode in iOS 13

In iOS 13, Apple has included a system-wide Dark Mode option similar to the one it brought to the Mac in 2018 with the release of macOS Mojave.

Dark Mode is designed to be easier on the eyes by providing less harsh display brightness in situations where ambient lighting is lower, while maintaining contrast and vibrancy.

If you have an OLED iPhone, such as an iPhone X, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max, enabling Dark Mode may also conserve battery life whenever true blacks are on screen, since black pixels in an OLED panel basically switch off and consume far less power.

Enabling Dark Mode in iOS 13 is easy – simply follow the steps below.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Tap Display & Brightness.

Under Appearance, tap Dark to switch to Dark Mode.

Note that the Display & Brightness settings screen also includes an Automatic switch that you can toggle – doing so will cause your device to automatically enable Dark Mode at sunset, and Light Mode at sunrise.

Alternately, you can set a custom schedule for the display change by using the Optionsmenu that appears when you toggle on the Automatic switch.Gihosoft RePicvid Free Photo Recovery Software provides a free photo recovery software for windows to help users recover the deleted or lost photo for free.

Horrifying MacBook Pro Battery Explosion Caught on Camera

We have witnessed a fair share of battery debacles on gadgets, with the recent one being on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. A Reddit user by the name White Panda uploaded a video wherein a 2015 Retina 15-inch MacBook Pro has exploded and caught fire. Video below shows the MacBook Pro lying on the ground after the explosion.

White Panda

@whitepanda

My MacBook Pro exploded today during normal use. No injuries, luckily. Some damage to the house. Could have been worse - good thing I wasn’t on a plane.

Very curious to see how @Apple responds.@MacRumors @TechCrunch @9to5mac

White Panda explained how toxic fumes filled up his home and triggered fire alarms. Thankfully no one was harmed, but the house did sustain some damages. He claims that the MacBook Pro caught fire during normal use and the laptop was not subject to any modification.

Yesterday afternoon my MacBook Pro exploded during normal use. It was on my lap, plugged in, and suddenly started to spew smoke out both sides. I quickly placed it on the floor where it popped, the smoke increased, and it caught fire.

The user explained how he visited the local Apple store and was informed that nothing could be done for the next 24 hours. The laptop was then placed in a fire-proof safe. The folks at the Apple Store assured that they would get back to White Panda within 24 hours with a plan/update detailing the future steps.

When White Panda didn’t get a call back in the next 24 hours he revisited the Apple Store. This time around he was told that the matter had been “escalated” and he should hear within five days.

They did not call. I reached out today and was told it had been “escalated” and I should hear something within FIVE days. I produce music for a living – FIVE days without my computer is unacceptable. It seemed like a worthwhile piece of information to share with the world, so there you have it.

White Panda also mentions that both the trackpad and the display had recently been replaced, however, the repair was carried out by Apple store and no third party was involved. We are also not sure whether or not White Panda was issued a standby laptop. In my personal experience, folks at Apple are pretty diligent when it comes to issuing standby devices in case of major repairs/replacements.Also Read:Free Online Movie Streaming Sites in 2019

Our Take

Thermal events are a rare occurrence. But every instance needs to be analyzed in isolation. Thermal Events also happen when laptops are exposed to high temperatures or charged with duplicate chargers. The following steps should help safeguard your MacBook from such events.
Don’t expose the laptop to direct sun or leave it in a car

Every now and then, check the laptop battery for a bulge or any other anomalies

Don’t compromise on the charger, always use the genuine ones

Before tossing your laptop in a bag, make sure it is powered off

macOS 10.15’s Music and TV Apps Leak in Screenshots

Following leaked screenshots of iOS 13, 9to5Mac has now released screenshots of the Music and TV app that will be a part of macOS 10.15.

macOS 10.15 will come with new Music and TV apps. Both of them follow a similar design language — there’s a sidebar for different categories/sections and a main white section to display all the information.

As previously reported, macOS 10.15 will come with a new Music app that will live alongside iTunes. It will offer user access to Apple Music as well as their local library. Additionally, it will also allow them to sync their iPhones and iPads. From the looks of it, Music app will eventually end up replacing iTunes in macOS.

The TV app will provide users with access to Apple’s TV+ subscription service. Its sidebar will categorize content depending on their type: Movies, TV Shows, Downloaded, etc. The TV app is already available on iOS and Apple is expanding it to the Mac to ensure a quality user experience for Apple TV+.

Apart from the layout, the screenshots don’t reveal much about the functionality of both apps. That’s something we will get to know early next week when Apple unveils macOS 10.15 at the opening keynote of WWDC 2019.

macOS 10.15 is expected to come with some other new system apps as well. Most of them would be Marzipan apps meaning they would also be available on the iPad and work in a similar fashion across both platforms.Sponsor ads:

‘Apple Boycott’ Growing in Popularity in China Due to US Trade War

Apple has had a hard time in China lately, and it doesn’t seem like it is going to get any better. Due to the recent, complicated, US-China relations, Apple is facing an “Apple Boycott” in the region. The US trade war with China has seen many western companies lose a lot of money, but Apple seems to be specifically hit by the ruling due to its prominent presence in China.

Usually, you see China’s government reacting to the US imposed sanctions on Chinese goods, but this time it’s the consumer that has power. Consumers have united in order to boycott the Californian company, and they seem to be succeeding well in the matter as the movement is slowly gaining momentum.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch economists Ethan Harris and Aditya Bhave have expressed their take on the matter in a recent note:

“According to a survey conducted by our colleagues in equity research, consumers in China and India are showing less interest in upgrading to an iPhone and more interest in upgrading to Xiaomi and Samsung,”

Loyalty is a big part of Chinese culture, making this outcome an unsurprising one, to say the least. Chinese smartphone manufacturers have taken top positions worldwide in terms of both sales and ratings, making the switch for a lot of Chinese consumers quite easy.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Are you a Chinese resident who’s boycotting Apple, or maybe you’re a US citizen with your own take? Let us know in the comments below.Sponsor ads:

Upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro could feature Samsung-made OLED display

Remember that 16-inch MacBook we talked about? It seems like Samsung may be the manufacturer to actually supply the OLED displays.

While it’s a surprise to nobody that Samsung makes some of the best OLED screens in the field, one might me surprised that Apple didn’t go with LG as their supplier. They have previously partnered on releasing “Mac optimised” Thunderbolt 3 displays and have been in a friendly relationship, mostly due to LG’s phone business not currently being a threat to iPhones.

Yet, Apple seems to be going for Samsung as their supplier again, and I say again because every OLED iPhone is made using Samsung’s panels. LG Screens have has their fair bit of controversy, varying from very quick burn-ins to a blue hue shift on Google Pixel 2 XL devices, so make of that what you will. It’s still undeniable that LG does produce high-quality components, but Apple may have had multiple reasons to go with Samsung’s solutions.

So what does this mean for the end-user? Not much more than that you’ll be getting some of the best displays around, however, Samsung’s reputation has been damaged a bit after the Samsung Galaxy Fold Fiasco. Hopefully, your shiny new MacBook does not flex.
