Jide Remix Ultra Tablet Starts Shipping to Kickstarter Backers, Gets Tested by the FCC

The Jide Remix Ultra tablet was a very interesting Kickstarter project, what many called a “Surface tablet with Android” and now it’s shipping to its backers. People who pledged the required money on the crowdfunding network have started receiving the slate.

In the meantime, the device has been certified by the FCC, who also did a teardown. The product stands out through the presence of a kickstand and a magnetic keyboard cover, that snaps onto the tablet and makes it sort of a laptop. This model doesn’t run Windows, but it relies instead on a flavour of Android called Remix OS. The idea is to make the mobile Google platform feel like a desktop OS.

Jide is a Chinese startup, that had a solid backing and manufacturing plans ahead of the Kickstarter campaign, so that was more for buzz than funding. The buzz worked and a Facebook group for the tablet was generated. This tablet comes with a 11.6 inch Full HD screen, the Nvidia Tegra 4 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a magnetic charging connector.
There’s also Miracast and Bluetooth 4.0 support, plus a microSDXC card slot. Pledges had the price at around $349.
